Glenwood Golf Club’s
81th Birthday Bash Golf Tournament
Monday April 28, 2008
Shotgun Starts at 8:00am and 1:00pm
Tournament Format:
This tournament will be an 18-hole, two-man team, captain’s choice event. After each hole is completed, your score on that hole will determine the tees your team must begin the next hole from. On the starting hole, each team will start on the blue tees. If you make a bogey, you will move forward a set of tees. If par is made, you will remain on the tees from your previous hole. If birdie or better is made, your team will move back a set of tees. Also, to add a little more fun to the event, there will be no flags in the holes.

Purpose:
The Glenwood staff cordially invites everyone to join us in celebrating our 81th anniversary with a fun and historic golf outing. Since 1927, Glenwood has served as a great, convenient course to Richmond and the surrounding counties for golfers to play. Over the years we have seen many faces, regulars and new ones daily. On this date we wish to bring everyone together for a great golfing experience on Richmond’s oldest public golf course.
Birthday cake will be provided!
Some information about the “Ole Course”:
In 1926, Fred Findlay had a goal; to create Richmond’s first 18 hole public golf course.
A year later, on April 30 of 1927, Glenwood opened its doors to golfers in the Richmond area.
Among many, a few great names have walked the grounds here at Glenwood. Those which include Nelson Broach, brothers Lanny and Bobby Watkins, and Robert Wren.
We have a long list of Club Champions dating back to 1961. Our current Club Champion is Wally Taylor; Senior Club Champion is Bo Jordan.
